A long paragraph is a wall. Somewhere in the middle of it your attention leaves, and your eyes keep travelling over words you are no longer taking in. Then you notice, and you go back to the start of the line, and the wall is a little taller than before.

You lose your place when you look away
A glance at your phone, a notification, a sip of coffee, and the line is gone. Finding it again costs you a paragraph. With Cadence the way back is one blink.
What you get
The text stays put
Unlike Autopace, Cadence doesn't take over the screen. The highlight moves through the page's own text, so headings, images and layout stay where you expect them.
One to four words a step
Highlight a single word, or up to four at a time. Larger steps suit familiar text; a single word suits dense material.
Click to jump
Click any word to move the highlight there, including to start from the middle of an article.
Your colour
The default is a soft apricot wash. Pick another colour if it suits the page better.
Which pacer should I use?
| Autopace | Cadence | GlideMark | |
|---|---|---|---|
| What you see | One word, centred on a clean screen | A highlight on one to four words | One band or underline that keeps growing |
| What moves | The word itself | The highlight jumps forward a step at a time | The edge of the band, letter by letter |
| What it does to the page | The page is replaced by a reading screen while it runs | Words are wrapped so they can be marked, then restored | Nothing. It uses the browser's own highlight feature |
| Reach for it when | You want no line to lose and nothing else in view | You want to see exactly which words are coming next | You want the lightest guide that never gets in the way |

Questions about Cadence
What is the difference between Cadence and GlideMark?
Cadence highlights a few words at a time and the highlight jumps forward. GlideMark draws one band that grows smoothly, letter by letter, and never erases behind itself.
Does Cadence change the page?
It wraps words so it can mark them, and it undoes that when you stop reading.
Is Cadence free?
Cadence is part of the lifetime license. You can try it on this page first.
